Recently Brighton officially announced that the team signed former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Welbeck on a one-year deal. This big player is with Premier League experience and big battle ability, last season he played for Watford, the team relegated to the Championship at the end of the season. Welbeck was released from his contract this month after a long layoff due to an injury. Next up will be Brighton.
Welbeck initially played for Manchester United and made 142 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 29 goals and dishing out 21 assists. He then joined Arsenal in 2014 where he played 126 games for the team, scoring 32 goals and adding 15 assists. After joining Watford Welbeck made 20 appearances for the team, scoring just three goals.
The Brighton side are counting on Welbeck to complement the team's forward line, with the manager recognizing Welbeck's strengths, believing that the newcomer is fast and skillful enough to create a threat at the attacking end of the pitch in subsequent matches. Welbeck is 29 years old and has also made 42 appearances for England, scoring 16 goals. Welbeck, who will next play for Brighton, will wear the No. 18 jersey and will, if nothing else, get his chance to play in the next round against West Bromwich Albion.
