The women's soccer tournament at the Asian Games is organized in a group + knockout format. First, the participating countries are divided into four groups of three or four teams each. The group stage is a single round-robin system where each team plays the other teams once. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams advance to the knockout stage. The knockout rounds are played on a single elimination basis until a winner is crowned.
