May 5 (Bloomberg) -- According to British media outlet The Sun
Gazette reports that Barcelona want to sign Liverpool striker
Nunez (name)
to replace the potentially departing
Ivan Levan (1926-), Portuguese soccer player
Barcelona's salary cap in La Liga has been slashed to around £174 million, meaning they will have to purge some of their higher-paid players in order to continue with the club's rebuilding program. And Leiva's salary will be £27 million next season, the highest in Barcelona's entire squad, which will almost certainly mean he will be sold.
In comparison, Nunez is one of the higher paid players in the Liverpool squad, but his wages are only a quarter of Levein's and therefore well within Barcelona's reach.
Considering that a number of players in the team will leave at the end of the season, Barcelona's management believes that if Liverpool is willing to negotiate, they are capable of meeting the other side's asking price.
