After the 0-2 defeat against Arsenal in the first round of the Premier League, Wolves captain Lemina was interviewed by the club's official website and gave an insightful analysis and reflection on the match.
On the match against Arsenal, Lemina said: "We know it will be a tough battle, Arsenal is undoubtedly one of the top teams in soccer today. However, we always believed that we were capable of causing them problems. During the game, we managed to steal the ball in the opponent's half, but unfortunately, we were not able to convert these chances into effective offense. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with the overall performance of the team, we could have done better, but the excellent play of Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya became a stumbling block on our way forward. Still, we deserve credit for our performance today and I am immensely proud of my teammates."
Talking about his team's lack of luck in the game, Lemina said, "That's the way it is in soccer, sometimes luck can be the deciding factor. Today, it was clear that we were not on the side of luck, as David Raya's many heroic saves left us with nothing to show for our efforts. But even so, I'm still proud of the fighting spirit and hard work the team showed. We will learn from this game, improve on our shortcomings and be better prepared for the next game."
When talking about the problems that the team needs to improve, Lemina was blunt: "We do have some areas that need to be improved, but this is the driving force for us to grow and improve. We are eager to win every game, so we will analyze every detail of this game, find out where the problems are and try to solve them. I believe we will respond to our fans' expectations with an even better performance in the next game."
Finally, Lemina also highlighted the debut performances of newcomers Rodrigo Gomez and Jürgen Larsson: "Both of them are very strong and promising players, exactly the type of players we lacked last year. Their addition injects new energy into the team and, more importantly, they are willing to work with us to achieve the team's goals. I believe that as the game progresses, they will gradually adapt to the pace and intensity of the Premier League and contribute more to the team in the future. The two of them are really great!"
