This is a pressure-filled game for both Egypt and Ghana.

These two teams have been the two biggest underdogs of this year's Afcon for a while now, with Egypt only managing to hold Mozambique to a draw and Ghana failing to beat Cape Verde, so who could have predicted that both teams would fail to finish top of the group after the first round of matches?

I've talked about the lack of focus in other countries before, and these two African powerhouses made the same mistakes at their own peril. Egypt got off to the perfect start just two minutes into the game, but as the Pharaohs conceded two goals in four minutes in the second half, it meant they had to settle for a 97th-minute VAR and a 12-yarder from star man Shana. Egypt were arguably the better team, but if you can't take your chances in one-off big games, you put yourself in danger.

But in hindsight, the Egyptian draw may not have been the worst possible outcome as my home country, Ghana, was even worse, suffering a Waterloo against Cape Verde, who should have won easily.

After scoring a late goal in the early stages and then tying the game, Ghana goalkeeper Okorie made a number of saves to keep Ghana hanging on, but eventually a defensive error gave Cape Verde the final margin of victory.
