According to the latest report from the Manchester Evening News, Premier League promotion rivals Burnley have shown strong interest in Manchester United's young midfielder Hannibal Mebri and are interested in signing him. United, on the other hand, are looking to sell the 21-year-old Tunisian midfielder this summer in order to gain transfer funds or optimize their squad.
Manchester United are reported to have activated a one-year option on Hannibal Maybury's contract extension last December, but the player's contract is still set to expire next summer. Faced with this situation, United's management decided to look to sell him this summer to avoid the risk of the player leaving the club on a free when his contract expires.
Burnley, a newly promoted team in the Premier League, are actively looking for players who can strengthen their team. Hannibal Maybury has not been able to get much playing time at Manchester United, but he has shown good potential and strength in his limited playing time. As a result, Burnley have shown a keen interest in him and are in talks with United about a move.
The report also suggests that Burnley are exploring both a permanent transfer or a loan deal with a compulsory buyout attached to bring in Hannibal Maybury. However, the United side prefers to sell him outright for a sizable transfer fee.
Hannibal Maybury joined Manchester United in the summer of 2019, but he hasn't had many first-team appearances, making just 13 appearances in total for the club. He spent the second half of last season on loan at La Liga side Sevilla, where he gained some match experience. Nonetheless, his future at United is still full of uncertainty, which opens up the possibility of a move.
