In Manchester United's season opener against Fulham, young striker Joshua Zilkidze came on as a substitute and scored a winning goal to seal three valuable points for United. Former Arsenal and Chelsea player Petit gave his views after the game, saying that although Zirkezer's goal had a certain element of luck, such a start to the season means a lot to the player.
Pettit said, "Joshua's goal was indeed very lucky, but sometimes luck is part of the game of soccer. More importantly, the fact that his goal happened late in the game and was the game-winner certainly gives him a good start to the season. A start like this could signal a lot of positive things to come."
He also mentioned, "On the soccer field, if you score a crucial goal on your first shot, it is often seen as fate or providence. For Zilkzer, this goal is undoubtedly a huge boost and will be a major milestone in his career."
Petit also recognized Zilkidze's contribution to United: "United actually had the chance to end the battle much earlier in this game, but fortunately, Zilkidze stepped up at the crucial moment and kept the three points for the team. I'm sure United manager Jens Ten Hagar will be very happy with Zirker's performance and expects him to continue to contribute to the team in the coming matches."
Finally, Petit emphasized the importance of the beginning of the season for players: "The beginning of the season is a crucial moment for any player. If you can get off to a good start at this stage, then you can avoid external distractions and pressures and focus more on the game itself, playing on your own terms. For Zilkzer, this goal certainly sets him up for the rest of the campaign."
