Hosting the World Cup for the first time

The 1950 World Cup was the fourth edition of the tournament, held from June 24, 1950 to July 16, 1950, and won by Uruguay. World War II had a significant impact on the sport of soccer, and after the third World Cup was held in 1938, no more World Cups were held for the next twelve years. It wasn't until 1946 that FIFA held a meeting to make a formal decision to reinstate the World Cup. In addition, FIFA also secured the participation of the four football associations in the Commonwealth at this meeting, which also means that the birthplace of modern soccer has since joined the embrace of world soccer.

As for the right to host the fourth World Cup in four years, FIFA awarded it to Brazil. This is the first time in their history that they have hosted the tournament, and the soccer kingdom has taken it very seriously, building a stadium that can hold up to 200,000 people.

This World Cup is a unique situation, originally there were 16 teams participating in the qualifying rounds, which will be divided into four groups of four teams each. However, due to the temporary withdrawal of Turkey, Scotland and India, only 13 teams will participate in the World Cup. So two of the four groups have four teams, one has three teams, and one has only two teams, Bolivia and Uruguay. And from the opening match on June 24, the World Cup has been bursting with a lot of cold, for example, the host Brazil was forced to draw by the Swiss team in their own home field. There was also the fact that England, known as the originator of the modern soccer movement, lost 0:1 to the United States in the course of their first World Cup appearance. Moving on to the next stage, Brazil won the first two rounds, with their opponents Uruguay having a record of 1 win and 1 draw. By the final round on July 16, the two teams were in direct confrontation. Uruguay needed to win to take the title, while Brazil only needed a draw to win. But with 170,000 spectators cheering, Brazil unexpectedly lost to Uruguay, who took the title with a 2:1 reversal.
