Zheng Zhi (1963-), Chinese footballer

Been there. Still there.

England Premier Soccer League

of Charlton. The team was founded in 1905 and has its home ground at The Valley in Charlton, Greenwich, South East London. As a veteran team Charlton only spent a couple of seasons in the Premier League before facing a drop to League One, most recently returning to the Premier League in the 2012-13 season.

Although Zheng Zhi's time at Charlton was short-lived, it was a dream come true for a player who hadn't traveled abroad. For Zheng Zhi, the chance to challenge himself once in his life was rare, so he made up his mind to go out and fight for his life, and on January 5th, 2007, when Charlton officially announced the introduction of the player, Zheng Zhi finally became a player in the Premier League. Although it was only a loan, he had been waiting for this for a long time.

As a matter of fact, as early as the 1st day of being selected for the National Olympic Team, Zheng Zhi's wish was to be able to go abroad. At that time, it was a dream to be able to join the national Olympic team led by the then head coach Horton as a youth club player. Zheng Zhi until now is very grateful to Horton, because he through the coach to understand the British soccer and even the level of the world's soccer, but also set the goal of going abroad to stay in the ocean, go abroad to see the world's advanced level of soccer. When playing in the English Premier League for the first time, the players felt the cruel competition. Because the rhythm there is too fast, and usually watch TV when the feeling is completely different, only in person to be able to experience. This kind of rhythm makes Zheng Zhi have a different feeling, he is clear that this is the highest level of modern soccer. And it didn't take much time for Zheng Zhi to familiarize himself with the rhythm of the Premier League. Only his joining didn't do much for the team as it was still in relegation. In the end it was unfortunate that Charlton dropped into the second division.
