According to a new report from the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United is actively planning to further clean up its roster before the summer transfer window closes, with plans to sell or loan five more players to optimize the team's structure and raise transfer funds.
In the striker position, Sancho has become an important part of United's purge list. The club is inclined to let the young striker go on loan or permanent transfer to find a more suitable stage for his development. Furthermore, while United are actively courting Ugarte, midfielder McTominay has not escaped the attention of the transfer market. Despite interest from Napoli, Fulham are no longer looking to make an offer for McTominay after coming close to signing Berger. Fulham had previously made a final offer of £23m for McTominay, while United insisted on at least £30m, with manager Jens Ten Hagar preferring to keep the versatile midfielder.
United currently has a large roster with 28 non-goalkeeper players, including young players such as Collier, Whitley, and Armas. In an effort to streamline the squad, Ten Hagar wants to keep at least two players in each position, so many of the rotational players are seen as redundant. Among them, Burnley have shown interest in midfield youngster Maybury, while winger Pellistri is expected to join Greek rivals Panathinaikos.
In the back line, the future of Swedish center back Lindelof is also up in the air. With his contract about to expire and United having signed two new signings in Jolo and De Ligt, Lindelof's position in the team has become delicate. He has not trained in the last three weeks, which further aggravates the possibility of his departure. However, the latest news suggests that Lindelof may stay at United, but the details remain to be seen.
In addition, Manchester United also plans to send center back Fish to Championship side Cardiff City. The deal is expected to bring United some transfer revenue and help young players get more game opportunities.
