German soccer legend Hamann recently expressed his views on Bayern Munich's series of personnel changes and tactical arrangements in an interview with Sports Images. Especially for the possible return of Kimmich to the midfield and Bayern's decision to let Delicht go, Hamann put forward his own questions and opinions.
Hamann has expressed strong disbelief over Kimmich's possible return to the midfield position. He argued that in the midfield position, Bayern already have the outstanding performers Palinha and Pavlovic, as well as Lemmerer, who shone in the Europa League. Hamann was outspoken in stating that Kimmich is not suited for the No. 6 or No. 8 positions, believing that Kimmich lacks enough speed and technical ability to contribute to the team on the attacking end. On the contrary, Hamann spoke highly of Kimmich's performance at right back, believing that he was able to play his specialty in this position.
In addition, Hamann expressed his surprise and regret over Bayern's decision to let De Ligt go. He believes that De Ligt is a player with leadership qualities and is able to make his teammates around him better. Hamann is concerned that with the departure of de Ligt, Bayern's control in the game may further decline. He bluntly pointed out that Bayern only show control of the game in very few matches, and the departure of de Ligt will undoubtedly make this situation worse.
Hamann also raised his own questions about Bayern's future reinforcement plans. He said he was not sure whether Bayern still need to bring in Jonathan Towers. This statement reflects that Hamann has some reservations about Bayern's operation in the transfer market.
