Manchester United have been making a lot of moves in the transfer market this summer, and according to a new report from The Athletic's follow up reporter Laurie Whitwell, the Red Devils are planning to sell a number of players and step up talks with some of them to extend their contracts.
Firstly, Manchester United have decided to put 32-year-old Danish midfielder Eriksen on the shelf with a bid of at least 5 million pounds. Although Eriksen still has one year left on his contract, and has made a transfer proposal to his old boss Ajax, but Ajax is currently facing financial pressures, and needs to sell players in order to reach a balance of income and expenditure, so the prospect of Eriksen's transfer is not clear.
In addition, Swedish center back Lindelof and young midfielder Hannibal Maybury are also seen as fringe players who may leave the team. United hope to use this opportunity to restructure their squad to make more room for the future of the team.
In terms of reinforcements, negotiations between Manchester United and Napoli are in full swing. Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has personally traveled to England for face-to-face talks with United midfielder McTominay, and some progress has been made in the negotiations. However, reports that personal terms have been agreed between the two sides have been confirmed as inaccurate. United are still trying to bring in a number six and although they have suspended talks with Ugarte, the Uruguayan midfielder is still on their radar. Agent Jorge Mendes is actively brokering a move for Ugarte, but a final result is expected a little later.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have decided not to bring in a left-back, ruling out the possibility of bringing in Fenerbahce left-back Kadioglu. Ten Hag says Luke Shaw's injury won't keep him out for too long, while Mazrahi and Dalot will be the main options in that position.
Also in the spotlight is the transfer of Manchester United striker Sancho. United have bid £40 million for Sancho, but finding a club that can afford his high wages has become a major problem. Paris Saint-Germain have been rumored to be interested in Sancho, but have yet to include him in their plans for this summer. And some within Manchester United believe that Chelsea could be interested in Sancho.
