At the moment, United are a club that is struggling to perform at their normal level, and another midweek defeat on the road will only increase the pressure on them.
The big names in United's squad are not playing as well as they should, with the likes of Warani, Rashford, Anthony Mathias, and Mason Monty still finding their best form, and their poor form is filtering down to the other players, along with the likes of Sufjan Rabat and Helen, who are still struggling to adapt to the Premier League and try to stabilize their positions for the time being, as well as the mainstays of the squad such as Lyszekindo Martinez and Kasimiru, who are also suffering from serious injury problems.
The performances of McTomini and General Fernandes have made them the best performers in United's side, and while I still don't think the other areas of the midfield are well balanced yet, where Tannhägger may need to prioritize right now are the other positional options in the side.
Is it time for a reshuffle in the forward line? Despite Helen's impressive performance in the UEFA Europa League, Naija is still yet to open his account in the league, while Lashford has scored just one goal in all competitions for the time being. With the need to freshen up the squad for a change, is it time to bring back Chaton Sinzu, who may have a bellyful of anger, to try and prove the leaders' previous decision wrong? Or is it time to put Anthony Martial in the middle of the park as an arrowhead, or even as a double striker with Helen? United will definitely need to make some changes, the question is just whether Tannhäuser will try to force changes himself or let the players try to change their form.
Luton will be in a happy mood after their draw with Liverpool last week, as no one, myself included, could have seen that coming. As I said last week, I think they are starting to show some attacking play and shots on goal. Ivars is a rare young manager and what he's doing with this team is remarkable, and after a tough start, it looks like their attacking style of play is starting to kick in, and it could be enough to upset United this weekend.
Regardless of what kind of defense United puts out, Luton putting a long ball directly into the United backfield as soon as possible could disrupt the home team's defense, and if this tactic is used to good effect during the game, I can guarantee that the home fans in Otford will be voicing their displeasure with United, which will only further increase the pressure on the home team.
I think Buckley and Anzus Doncin are two of Luton's most crucial players, Buckley has started the last two games and played quite consistently, signing Anzus Doncin on a free has added some stability to their attack and I think their years of experience at Otford as well as their Premier League experience can be invaluable in allowing the other players to adapt to the game and settle in as quickly as possible.
