Luton v Liverpool would be a great match up , a real David v Goliath battle, unfortunately I don't think David can win this one.

It's really great that Luton are back in the top flight, but they may be a couple of years ahead of their original own plans to return to the Premier League, and their performances in the Premier League so far have reflected that well.

They need to rely on their home form to get points, but so far this season they haven't won at home. Losing 2 of their last 4 games is an improvement over losing all 4 to start the season, and with good play especially towards the end of the game, I think they are starting to find some formulas to generate a goal threat in front of goal.

Luton are not a team that wants to control the ball, and even in last year's promotion season, they averaged just 45% possession in the entire Championship. Instead, they tend to try and chop the ball out of the back as quickly as possible to taller pivots such as Carlton Morris or Elijah Adebayor, and then press the ball up the pitch with midfielders and locks to encroach on the space around the center forward.

With this style of play, the team is vulnerable to counter-attacks, and there is probably no better counter-attacking team in the EPL than Liverpool. Liverpool's forward line showed their firepower again in the midweek match, with Dawun Niunis sealing the win. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, it's always good for a manager to see players, whether they're on the bench or not, make an impact on the game by scoring goals. Mohamed Sanaa, Darwin Nunes and Diago Zuda have all been on the Socceroos' roster in recent weeks, and I'd like to see all three of these strikers on the roster again.

Davin Nunes looks to have finally found his feet, and I think it's down to the fact that he's used to the pace of the Premier League, and likewise Liverpool are used to his style of play. Nunes' pace, directness and ability to get back into the game means that Liverpool can utilize all 3 forward positions to open up space high up the pitch and play at a high level, which is perfectly balanced by the fact that Kopp seems to be using a midfield 3 of Suboslall, Alex McAllister and Ryan Gwynedd to form the midfield now. So far, Suboslar has been the best acquisition of the season, along with James Maddison, and I'm looking forward to seeing him continue to develop and improve as the season progresses.
