The bidding period for the 2034 World Cup closed on Tuesday (31st), and Australia announced that they had abstained from bidding, leaving Saudi Arabia as the sole bidder. In other words, as long as everything meets the requirements, the FIFA will announce the results in the fourth quarter of 2024, and Saudi Arabia will be the host of the 2034 World Cup.

According to the order of FIFA, it is the turn of Asia and Oceania to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. On the first day of accepting applications, Saudi Arabia immediately applied to host the tournament, while the rest of the potential bidders, such as Australia, Southeast Asian countries Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia did not make any move. Australia, which has hosted the Women's FIFA World Cup in the summer, announced that it would give up bidding for the tournament on the closing date, leaving Saudi Arabia as the only country that has applied for the tournament.
