According to a new report from the UK's Mirror, renowned agent Mendes has arrived in Manchester to open talks about United signing Uruguayan international Ugarte. The news further confirms United's interest in Ugarte and suggests that the two sides are getting closer to reaching an agreement.

Manchester United have been eyeing Ugarte in the transfer market this summer, and manager Jens Ten Hag wants to partner him with Maynu in order to strengthen the team's midfield. Ugarte, as a skillful midfielder with good defensive and attacking skills, perfectly fits Ten Hag's expectation of the team's midfield construction.

The Mirror notes that while United and Paris Saint-Germain have been at odds over the transfer fee, this negotiation hinges on contractual terms and duration, which are not expected to be obstacles to a deal. For their part, United have proposed a loan-enhanced buyout transfer package designed to ease the current tight financial situation and retain future ownership of Ugarte.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly valuing Ugarte at a higher price and want to recoup the £51 million they paid to bring him in. However, United are not willing to pay such a high fixed transfer fee, especially after having spent £150 million on multiple reinforcements. As a result, both sides need to agree on a transfer approach to find a formula that meets the financial interests of Paris Saint-Germain and is in line with United's financial planning.

In addition, Ugarte himself is open to joining Manchester United and even shows an urgent desire to do so. This attitude has undoubtedly weakened Paris Saint-Germain's bottom line of maintaining a tough stance in the negotiations, bringing a positive impact on United's reinforcement efforts.
