Premier League side Southampton are actively preparing an offer to Arsenal with the intention of taking their goalkeeper Ramsdale on loan, according to leading sports outlet Sky Sports. The news, exclusively revealed by Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, has attracted a lot of attention in the soccer world.
Last season, Ramsdale faced stiff competition for the starting goalkeeping position at Arsenal and was eventually replaced by Spanish goalkeeper David Raya. Throughout the 2023-24 season, the England international goalkeeper played just 11 games for Arsenal, including six in the Premier League. Obviously, his competitive position in the team has been seriously affected.
Faced with this situation, Arsenal have a clear plan for Ramsdale's future. The club prefers to let him leave on a permanent transfer, or at least with a compulsory buyout clause in the loan contract. Such an arrangement can not only bring Arsenal some financial gains, but also for Ramsdale to find a new platform to stabilize the play.
It is worth noting that apart from Southampton, another Premier League side, Wolves, have also shown a keen interest in Ramsdale. Wolves are currently in talks with Arsenal over a move for Ramsdale and have explored a loan option with an option to buy clause. This option is also attractive to Arsenal as it leaves more possibilities for Ramsdale's future.
