Aston Villa midfielder Nicolo Cignolo is being investigated by Italian authorities for his involvement in a gambling scandal, but Villa claim that the 24-year-old Italian international has not been convicted and will continue to take part in drills and matches for the team, including a Premier League home match against Westham on Sunday night (22nd).
The Villa club has revealed that Nicolo Cignolo is assisting in the investigation and has already met with the club's management and has been allowed to participate in drills and matches as usual. It is reported that there are 40 people involved in the illegal gambling incident, Zuyuntas midfielder Fagioli has already confessed to the crime and was sentenced to a 7-month suspension, and Sindo Donnelly, who switched from AC Milan to Newcastle in the summer, has also admitted to the Italian Prosecutor's Office that he has been involved in gambling, and is expected to be suspended for at least a year.
