Ligue 1's Player of the Month for August was not Kylian McBarbie, but Takumi Minamino, the Japanese international who plays for Monaco. He scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 3 matches in August, which is a great form, and although he was not selected by the Japanese national team, he won the Player of the Month for August, and became the first Japanese to be selected as the Monthly Player of the Ligue 1, which is considered as a consolation prize.

Takumi Minamino started three matches in August. In the first match, he contributed an assist in the 86th minute, helping his team to a 4-2 win over Clermont; in the second match against Strasbourg, Takumi Minamino made two passes and one shot to help Monaco to a 3-0 win; and in the third match, he also scored once, resulting in a 3-3 draw between Monaco and Nantes.
