's qualifying round with a comfortable victory to successfully book his place in the final stage in Berlin next month. Vaafii posted an excellent 72 to beat Mink Nutcharut 5-0, while former world champion Graeme Dott came back from 2-3 down to beat Brazil's Victor Sarkis 5-3.
In the other match, Ryan Day beat Stan Moody 5-3 with a top score of 91 points
.. And Scottish Open semi-finalist Zhou Yuelong beat Jack Jones 5-4 after coming back from 0-2 down to reach a maximum break of 104 points.
Qualifying will conclude on Friday.
