On November 5, 2023 China Tennis Tour CTA1000 Guangzhou Whampoa Station and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Open Series Activity Caddie Selection Activity was successfully held in Guangzhou Development District International Tennis School. This is the fourth year for Guangzhou Whampoa Station to hold caddie selection activity, which has been warmly pursued by all of us since the application was launched. In the end, 6 ball kids who stood out through the theoretical assessment, physical fitness test and professional test were successfully shortlisted and will participate in the pre-tournament training from November 6th to 11th.
Caddies are the closest people to the players on the tennis court and have always played an important role in ensuring the smooth running of the game. They not only need to be able to quickly determine the needs of the players on the court, but also need to be able to "listen to the six directions and watch the eight directions", to grasp the latest situation in all corners of the court. It is because of the important role of caddies that the selection of caddies has become an important and indispensable part of the preparation for the tournament.
Caddies are also an important part of a tennis tournament, and many of the best players in the world of tennis have had the experience of caddying during their development. Tennis caddies are indispensable on the court, and a caddie who serves in the top tournaments needs to possess a number of comprehensive qualities, including physical fitness, sports skills, tennis knowledge, basic English, social etiquette, resilience, sense of responsibility, spirit of cooperation, and sense of service. This ball kid selection activity not only provides an opportunity for young people who love sports and tennis to participate in the tournament closely, but also realizes their little wish to look up to their idols and light up their dreams.
The organizing committee conducted a rigorous assessment for this selection, the selection process includes a written test, ball sense test, timed run and 1-minute sit-ups, from theory to practice, from knowledge reserve to physical quality, comprehensive and objective assessment of the overall quality of the caddie, to give each registered caddie a good opportunity to self-test.
The teacher in charge of this event said that the ball kids are selected not only through regular health checkups and physical fitness tests, but also through professional tests on concentration and agility, qualities that are required of ball kids in modern tennis tournaments, and which are also an important part of a high-quality tournament.
