Chris has been ranked No. 1 in Ireland for about a decade, winning gold in men's singles and silver in men's doubles and mixed doubles in Scotland.
The competition took place from Friday, November 24 to Sunday, November 26 and brought together athletes with physical disabilities (PD) and learning disabilities (LD) in more than 30 events.
In an interview with The Porta Then Newspaper, the Mullaverley resident explained, "I was delighted to win the Wh.1 British Para Badminton Singles Championships and become the number one ranked player in the UK.
"In the singles final I was up against Irish teammate Dean McCarthy. He didn't play that long and he did a great job in getting to the final. If he continues to develop he will play in many finals and win medals in the future.
"I am delighted to have won silver medals in both doubles and mixed doubles. Thanks to my partners in both disciplines, Michael Smith from Belfast and Fiona Christie from Scotland.
"I've known Michael since school and we've been playing together for a long time. it was Michael who got me involved in the sport over 20 years ago.
"He competed in athletics at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympics and the 2000 Sydney Paralympics before a wrist injury led him to badminton.
"I had been swimming in my spare time, but Michael encouraged me to try badminton and I started right away.
"I've known Fiona for a long time too, but this is the first time we've played together.
"Overall, this team came home with five gold medals and five silver medals - a remarkable achievement.
"This is my first time winning a national championship. It's a big deal for me and I'm very happy.
Chris now gets a well-deserved break over the festive period to begin preparations ahead of the March 2024 international in Spain.
He added: "I now train two to three times a week, not as much as I used to. I train as a team at Lisburn Racket Club and then independently in the gym and on the road.
"This is my third tournament. I've won silver medals in mixed doubles and singles before, so now winning gold is third time lucky.
"Being so close in previous years made me determined to go on to win the gold medal this time.
"I would like to thank all those who have supported me, including my colleagues at the Northern Ireland Housing Executive in Craigavon, where I am the Executive Officer.
"Work has come in really handy in terms of taking time off for big events. I'm excited to bring home the gold medal and I'm looking forward to participating in the 2024 event.
