The 14th "Mayor's Cup" Table Tennis People's Harmony Tournament 2023 was held in 11 districts of Guangzhou from October to November. The finals were held at the Guangzhou Asian Games Sports and Cultural Center.
This year's tournament was divided into groups by age, with 10 groups for men and women: 8 years old and below, 9-10 years old, 11-12 years old, 13-15 years old, 16-29 years old, 30-39 years old, 40-49 years old, 50-59 years old, 60-69 years old, and 70 years old and above, and a total of 10 groups for men and women. "The competition covers all districts in the city, with more than 10,800 participants this year.
As the largest table tennis tournament in Guangzhou, with the widest age coverage, the highest degree of participation and popularity, and the widest influence, the Mayor's Cup Table Tennis People's Harmony Tournament has attracted the enthusiastic participation of citizens of different regions, occupations and ages, with a cumulative total of 130,000 participants in the past 14 years. The total number of participants has reached 13 million over the past 14 years.
The teams participating in the finals were full of experts, including former national players, retired professional athletes, university team members and table tennis players who had received systematic training, and the level and excitement of the tournament was no less than that of professional competitions. After three days of fierce fighting, all the rankings of each group were decided.
The tournament was hosted by the Guangzhou Sports Bureau and the Guangzhou Sports Federation, organized by the Guangzhou Table Tennis Association and the Guangzhou International Table Tennis Center, and co-organized by the sports administration departments of all districts, the Guangzhou Sports Lottery Administration Center and the table tennis associations of all districts.
