Chelsea's BlueCo, a consortium headed by owner Pauli, successfully acquired Ligue 1 club Strasbourg at the end of last month, and immediately made a big move, announcing on Monday (3) that it had hired former Crystal Palace leader Vela to coach the team, with both sides signing a three-year contract. It is expected that Chelsea will give Strasbourg another year's supply of young players to help them fight for a good result in Ligue 1.

The 47-year-old Vela, who was sacked by Crystal Palace at the end of last season, returned to Ligue 1 to coach Strasbourg, saying at a press conference, "I know the history and status of coaching Strasbourg in France, and the team's rebuilding path in recent years has been very correct, and today we will embark on a new milestone, and I am very honored to be able to build this plan as a coach.
