, failed to qualify directly for the Europa League. The call sparked some controversy in the 92nd minute of the match when Ukraine's Mudryk went down after suspected contact with Italy's Cristante in the penalty area, but the referee did not award a penalty.

Coach Rebrov said, "For me, it was a penalty kick, but the VAR didn't think it was appropriate to have the referee watch the video replay. It was the VAR that made the decision, not us, and the referee on the pitch at the time was not asked to verify what had happened."

Rebrov went on to say, "It was a tough game from the start. In the first half we focused mainly on our defense, while in the second half we started to pressure our opponents and regained control of the game. Everyone was sad in the locker room, I talked to them about it, but we played well in the game."

The match was scheduled to be played in Leverkusen, Germany, and Rebrov concluded, "We've always done our job and tried our best. The atmosphere here is really good, we have received a warm welcome inside the stadium and even the Italians on the field and in the stands have shown us a lot of respect."
