The English Football League Cup is the full name of the English Football League Cup, also known as the "Carabao Cup" due to the sponsor's name. It is a knockout soccer competition organized by the English Football League, with the first edition held in the 1960-61 season. The Cup is open to a total of 92 teams from the Premier League and members of the English Football League (Championship, League One and League Two teams), with the winning team qualifying for the UEFA Europa League (previously the Europa League).
The tournament has little prize money and little attention, with the Premier League giants fielding a large number of youngsters. The last ten League Cups have been won by four of the Premier League's top teams - Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Liverpool have won the League Cup the most times with ten trophies.

First round: 70 teams from the Championship (except the two teams that landed in the Championship from the 18th and 19th places of the Premier League in the previous season), League One and League Two, with 35 winners advancing to the second round.
Round 2: 35 first-round winners plus the two Championship teams that finished 18th and 19th in the Premier League in the previous season and the 13 Premier League teams not required to participate in the European competition, for a total of 50 teams, with 25 winners advancing to the third round.
Round 3: 25 second-round winners plus the remaining seven Premier League teams that need to play in Europe, totaling 32 teams, with 16 winners advancing to Round 4
From round 4 onwards: no new teams added, half of the winning teams advance to the next round
With the exception of the Semi-Finals and Finals, matches are drawn by lot, with the first round to the last eight and the Finals being decided by a one-legged knockout. With effect from 2018-19, in the event of a tie in all matches except the final, extra time will be canceled in the event of a tie within the statutory time and the winner will be decided immediately by a penalty shoot-out. Semi-finals are played on a home-and-away basis, with no away goals, and in the event of a tie on aggregate, the winner will be determined by a penalty shoot-out immediately after the end of the legal time for the second round.
The final is played on a neutral pitch, traditionally the League Cup final is usually held at Wembley Stadium in London at the end of February, due to the redevelopment of the Wembley Stadium, the final was moved to Cardiff's Millennium Stadium from 2001 to 2007, until 2008 when it returned to Wembley Stadium.
