According to the latest report from the authoritative French sports media RMC Sports, English Premier League team Everton and French Ligue 1 powerhouse Marseille are currently locked in a fierce battle for the right back of Rennes, Arsignon, who is their common target. In order to successfully bring in the young French defender, both clubs are inclined to adopt a loan deal with an optional buyout clause to reduce the initial financial pressure and minimize the transfer risk.

Arsignon's experience with Rennes last season was a mixed bag. In the early stages of Genesio's tenure, he was the team's starting right back, but with Stéphane's return, Arsignon's position in the team took a nosedive and he was eventually left out of the starting lineup. Seeking more playing opportunities, Arsignon opted to join Championship side Burnley on loan, where he had a short but productive spell. However, with Burnley's unfortunate relegation to the Championship, Arsignon's plans for a permanent transfer fell through and he had to return to Rennes.

Even though Assignon has returned to Rennes, his future with the team is still full of uncertainty. With the addition of Hartbauer, the competition within the Rennes squad has become more intense and the situation for Arsignon has become more delicate. Although he still holds a place in the team, his name still appears frequently in the transfer market rumors.

It is worth noting that Arsignon was previously close to joining Serie A powerhouse Roma. However, with Roma's success in signing Saudi international Abdulhamid, their interest in Arsignon seems to have waned, providing Everton and Marseille with an opportunity to capitalize.

For Everton and Marseille, Assignon is undoubtedly an attractive target. He possesses excellent physical fitness, good defensive awareness and notable offensive ability, making him a young defender with great potential. Both clubs hope that by bringing him in, they can strengthen the backline of their teams and prepare well for the coming matches.
