Mays, who was recently banned from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has been apologizing since the film, and the tension has eased significantly. He officially returned to PSG in the early hours of Tuesday morning (9), and brought his wife to the Sports Oscars in Paris to receive the Laureus Award for Best Male Athlete, which he won over Verstappen, Nadal, Duplantis, Stephan Gyuri, and PSG teammate Kilian McBarber. He won the award for the second time since 2020.

Mez, who led Argentina to the World Cup title at the end of last year, said after winning the award: "I would like to thank all my teammates, not only the Argentinean national team, but also my teammates from Paris Saint-Germain, as I could not have achieved this on my own, and I am so happy to be able to share this award with them. This award has enriched my sporting achievements, and I look at the previous winners, Schumacher, Vivas, Nadeau, Poulter, Hamilton, Zugovic, all of them are legends of the sports world.

The Argentine national team also won the Laureus Best Team, making Mays the first person ever to win both the Best Athlete and Best Team in a single year. Other athletes at the awards ceremony also posed for photos with Mace, and ski goddess Aileen Kuk, who won the Best Extreme Athlete award, also posed for photos with Mace on social media.

PSG also announced on social media on Tuesday that Mays had returned to training, posting a photo of him in his practice shirt. The Ligue 1 table-toppers will host Ajaccio in the early hours of Sunday morning (14th), and Mays is expected to be available if nothing happens.
