Premier League powerhouse Liverpool have suffered a major setback this season, ranking only 7th in the league table, not to mention that their chances of making the top 4 in the UEFA Europa League are slim, and even their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League aren't so easy. However, with Manchester United reaching the EFL Cup final, Liverpool will be able to qualify for the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa League as long as they hold on to their 7th place, hopefully escaping the fate of the European Union next season.

The EPL's European seating arrangement was originally for the top 4 to play in the UEFA Europa League, the 5th and EFL Cup winners to play in the UEFA Europa League, and the EFL Cup winners to play in the UEFA Europa League. However, with Man Utd. kicking out Brighton to reach the EFL Cup final, the EFL Cup winners will be in the hands of Man Cunty or Man Utd. If nothing else, they will both be amongst the top 5 of the Premier League, and therefore the 2nd UEFA Europa League seat will be transferred to the 6th place of the Premier League. As Man Utd are also EFL Cup winners, the UEFA will also give the 7th place to the Premier League team, which means Liverpool will be able to play in Europe as long as they stay in the top 7.

Liverpool are still in 7th place with 50 points, just one more than 8th-placed honky-tonk, but with two more matches to play, they are very close to Ashton Villa (51 points) and Tottenham Hotspur (53 points), and the competition for European qualification will be fierce.
