Former England international Agbonlahor said on March 25 BST that a bid of 70 million pounds may not be able to take away San Xun even now.

Two years ago, Brighton brought in Mikumori from Kawasaki Striker for just €3 million, but the player's value in the German transfer market has now soared to €22 million from the original €1.8 million. In his last 13 Premier League games, Mikumi has contributed six goals and four assists; this season, he has made 27 appearances per game, turning in nine goals and six assists.

Famous Villa player Agbonlahor wrote in his personal column: "I don't like to see a player being poached after a high season. Kaoru has been very impressive for Brighton recently, but it remains to be seen whether he will be able to establish himself at a big club. I don't think he may be able to take Mikun even if a team makes a bid of £60 to £70 million. He would be better off staying at Brighton and playing another season."

It is reported that at present, the two major Premier League giants, Manchester City and Arsenal, are both very interested in San Kaori.

Despite the player's contract not expiring until June 2025, Brighton chief executive Barber has said that they are prepared to keep San Kaoru on a contract extension. It is reported that San Kaoru, who earns just £1.02 million a year at Brighton, is ready to accept an extension that doubles his annual salary as offered by Brighton.

Agbonlahor's reference to the fact that £70m may not take away San Kaoru is not an exaggeration. Brighton CEO Barber said the club doesn't need to sell players to stay afloat and said £70m would only buy half of Caicedo.
