In a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bernardeschi, a former Juventus player who now plays for Toronto FC, gave an in-depth look at the major changes at Juventus this summer, the coaching style of Juan Motta, the prospects of new additions and the dynamics of several teammates, while looking back on his own successful season in Toronto.
Speaking about his performance in Toronto, Bernardeschi couldn't hide his joy, "The season is going very well, I've scored 10 goals and dished out 10 assists. We're currently aiming for the trophy and the USL playoffs, which is certainly satisfying for a team that has undergone such revolutionary changes."
Bernardeschi understands and is looking forward to the changes at Juventus: "Juventus needs this kind of change, Jontoli is working productively and Motta is a tough and experienced coach. We met at the Europa League and he showed then that he pays attention to young players and develops them. I'm confident that Juventus will be revitalized under Motta's leadership."
Speaking about the new additions, Bernardeschi singled out Yildiz: "He's a real heavyweight addition and wearing the No. 10 jersey means huge responsibilities and expectations. I believe he has the ability to show his talent at Juventus, just as I did when I was at Fiorentina." He also has high hopes for players such as Vlahovic and Nicolas Gonzalez, who he believes will bring new energy and competitiveness to Juventus.
On Szczesny's decision to retire, Bernardeski expressed his best wishes, "He's a great teammate, I wish him all the best and may he find happiness in his family life."
Speaking about Juventus' prospects for the title, Bernardeschi opined, "This year's squad is much fuller and we are capable of posing a threat to Inter. Of course, Inter have a lot of experience and tacit understanding, but give Motta some time and I'm sure he can build a great team. If Sancho can join, it will be the icing on the cake."
Finally, Bernardeschi also talked about the match against Roma and Dybala's choice: "Sunday's match against Roma will be an important one, but Juventus will give their best no matter who the opponent is. As for Dybala's choice to stay in Roma, I think it's a wise decision. The emotion that Roma has given him is special and he will be loved and remembered even more by the fans."
