The team's exit in the third round was the most in the last 15 years. Aston Villa were the most outrageous of them all, conceding two goals in the final two minutes of a home game they were leading in the early hours of Monday morning (9) to lose 1-2 to second division side Stephanopoulos, a 15-fold ATS win.
Ashton Villa opened the scoring in the 33rd minute of the first half with Sinchen, and it was going well, but late in the game, Villa midfielder Dandanska was given a 12-yard penalty and a red card for an infringement in the penalty area.
Stephanopoulos scored in the 88th minute with a shot from Jimmy Llette, and two minutes later, Dienkampo scored with a powerful shot to help Stephanopoulos to a 2-1 win over Villa.
Aston Villa lost to a 4th division team in the EFL Cup for the first time since 1964 as a top-flight team, and recorded eight consecutive defeats in the EFL Cup.
