(May 8) - China opened the U17 Women's Asian Cup with a 3-0 win over Australia in the first round of the group stage of the tournament. The Chinese team, led by Australian boss Van Egmond, overwhelmed their opponents and showed a refreshing performance. This year's U17 Women's Asian Cup features eight teams divided into two groups, with the top three qualifying for this year's U17 Women's World Cup, which will be held in the Dominican Republic from Oct. 16 to Nov. 3 this year. China has been placed in what is known as the "Group of Death", with Japan and Australia.
In the first round of the tournament, the Chinese team showed excellent performance and won the opening match with a 3-0 victory over the Australian team. In the match, China's ball possession reached 59%, with a total of 16 shots, 12 of which were on target. In comparison, Australia had only 5 shots and 3 shots on goal. The Chinese team, under the guidance of Van Egmond, showed three characteristics: insisting on full-court high-pressure pressing, insisting on playing with their feet and making full use of the width of the field. This new style of play has been refreshing for the Chinese girls. China's next match will be played on the 10th against Thailand. With a win, China will advance to the group stage. Van Egmond and his team will continue to work hard to achieve better results in this Asian Cup.
