Suarez said in the release, "Friday will be my last game for the national team. It's something I've been thinking about for a long time and now is the right time. I will play this game with the same enthusiasm I had when I made my national team debut in 2007."
On Friday, Uruguay will welcome Paraguay in a South American qualifier for the World Cup.
