In an interview with Rai Radio 1, Italian Football Federation president Gravina commented on hot-button issues such as the stability of national team boss Luciano Spalletti's reign and whether the transfer window should remain open once the league begins.
In response to the pressure Spalletti may face in coaching in the UEFA Europa League, Gravina made clear his trust and support for Spalletti. He emphasized that it is unwise to assess a coach's coaching ability through a few matches in a short period of time, and that there is a strategic error in this approach. Gravina recalled the decision to choose Spalletti as one of the best coaches on the market and expressed his recognition of Spalletti's way of working. He promised to give Spalletti enough time to achieve results and pointed out the limitations of the Italian national team in terms of player selection, namely the limited number of players available to Italy compared to stronger teams such as Spain.
In addition, Gravina expressed his opposition to the question of whether the transfer window should remain open after the start of the league. He believes that such a practice would not only have a negative impact on the relationship between fans and teams, but also create a distorted relationship between players and clubs. Gravina said he has discussed the issue with UEFA and hopes to find a solution through joint action at a systemic level. In this way he hopes to maintain the fairness and stability of the league and protect the rights of players, clubs and fans.
