Following Manchester City's 3-1 away win over West Ham United in the third round of the Premier League last weekend, central midfielder Kevin De Bruyne gave an exclusive interview to the Daily Mail. In the interview, he shared his thoughts on teammate Erlin Harland and talked about his future plans.
When asked if Harland is the best striker he's ever worked with, De Bruyne gave a considered answer: "It's quite a complicated question. If I look at the performance in the box alone, I would not hesitate to say that Harland is indeed one of the top strikers I have ever worked with. His goal-scoring efficiency is amazing, and the statistics are the best proof of that. However, if I were to think in terms of comprehensiveness, perhaps I would mention Sergio Aguero, as each striker has their own unique contribution and style of play, which makes it difficult to make direct comparisons. But in any case, there is no doubting Harland's prolific output, he has started the season in extremely hot form and I sincerely hope he can continue this momentum."
De Bruyne also recalled his experience of playing alongside many great strikers, including legends such as Aguero, Samuel Eto'o and Fernando Torres. He exclaimed, "I have had the honor of playing alongside these great strikers, all of whom are gems in soccer. Each had their own unique talents and contributions, which makes direct comparisons extremely difficult. But the emergence of Harland has certainly added a new dynamic to City's attacking line and he has been impressive."
Regarding his future, De Bruyne is relatively low-key and cautious. He confessed: "Discussions about my future have really been quite a lot this summer, but I have kept a calm mind. In fact, I have not talked to anyone in depth about it, nor have I received any specific offers. I've been on vacation all summer and when I came back I was fully committed to training. At the moment, I really don't have too many plans or concerns about the future. I'm sure as the season progresses, discussions about contract extensions or other possibilities will naturally surface. For now, I just want to focus on the game and enjoy the joy that soccer brings. The future is full of uncertainty, but I will make the most appropriate decision based on my family, my personal wishes and the team's development plan."
