In an interview with TVSporten, footballer Michael Owen gives an insight into the future of Cristiano Ronaldo (Crow) and Leo Messi, two of the biggest stars of contemporary football, and in particular what they might venture into when they retire from the game. According to Owen, the two legends are coming to the end of their soccer careers, but their love and contribution to the game is far from over.
Owen begins by mentioning that Crow and Messi's lives have been closely linked to soccer, and their love for the sport is hard to part with. Therefore, whether they will leave the soccer world altogether after retirement has become a topic of concern. Owen speculated that given their financial strength and deep understanding of soccer, they might choose to own or manage a soccer club rather than just become a manager.
When it comes to which of the two is more likely to become a head coach, Owen favors Crowe. He points to Crowe's experience as interim head coach of Portugal at Euro 2016, as well as the leadership and tactical savvy he showed when directing from the sidelines. According to Owen, Crow not only looks like a coach on the outside, but is also filled with an inner desire to coach. Therefore, it is very likely that he will take over the coaching whip of the Portuguese national team sometime in the future, and even have the opportunity to coach such powerful clubs as Manchester United and Real Madrid.
For Messi, although Owen did not directly predict his future coaching path, he did not rule out the possibility. After all, Messi's soccer intelligence and insight into the game are equally outstanding, and he has the ability to pass on his soccer philosophy to the next generation of players after he retires.
