Qatar has temporarily built three fan villages to solve the problem of fan accommodation, with prices ranging from HK$1,650 per night. Problems have persisted since the opening of the fan villages, and according to foreign media reports, the Qatari authorities have confirmed that they will provide full refunds to some of the affected fans.

There are 1,800 tents and 6,000 cabins in the Qatar Fan Village, of which the Fan Village near the airport can accommodate up to 12,000 places. As most of the rooms are converted from cargo containers, the design has been criticized by Hong Kong fans for resembling the square cabin Penny's Bay isolation camp. The Fan Village is suspected to have been built in a hurry, and has recently come under the spotlight as a number of problems have arisen.

Comprehensive foreign media reports, some fans claimed to have paid hundreds of pounds to get a booking confirmation, but when they checked in they were told that it was not their room at all, in addition, there are also many people complaining that the fan village feels like unfinished, the room environment and meals are not as ideal as they should be, and it's not worth the price. Recently, some fans even complained that they had to wait in line for as long as six hours before they could check in, and then found out that the toilets in their rooms were leaking and other problems.
