Beijing Guoan Football Club was founded on December 29, 1992.
Beijing Guoan is a soccer club based in Beijing, the capital of China. Its home stadium is Workers Stadium, and it currently plays in the Chinese Super League. It is also a founding member of the Chinese First Division A League and the Chinese Super League. The club has won the CFA Cup four times, participated in the Asian Cup Winners' Cup twice and the Asian Champions League seven times.
Beijing Guoan FC was formerly known as Beijing Football Team. Since its establishment in October 1955, Beijing has been a strong team in the Chinese soccer world, and has won the Chinese First Division Championship five times (respectively: 1957, 1963, 1964, 1982, 1984); in 1985, it won the FA Cup. Jin Zhiyang took the helm in 1995, and in three years he led Guoan to win the AFC Cup twice, as well as finishing second in the league once and third in the league once.
In 2009, Guoan received financial support from the municipal government, the team shouted the slogan of "winning the league", and moved their home stadium back to the Workers' Stadium. In the end, after a period of unstable play and a change of manager, Guoan won the Super League title that season, the first league title in the club's 16 years of existence.
From 2011 to 2015, with the rise of Guangzhou Evergrande, Beijing Guoan's business philosophy and the team's performance have been hit by a bigger impact in these years, Guoan still resisted the pressure to maintain the league's top four rankings, but also twice from the group stage of the AFC Champions League breakthrough.
From 1994 to the present, Beijing Guoan has used Beijing Xiannongtan Stadium (1994-1995), Fengtai Sports Center Stadium (2006-2008), Rizhao International Football Center (2022), and Beijing Workers' Stadium (1996- 2005, 2009-2019, 2023-) as the home stadium.
