In the first half, in the 6th minute, Luton's Doughty sent in a cross which was headed home by Lokonga to make it 0-1. West Ham United's Sawchuck tried a long range shot but the ball was well held by Luton keeper Kaminski. West Ham United's Antonio also tried a long range shot, but it went wide.
In the second half, the game started to change. In the 54th minute, West Ham United's Prowse fired a powerful shot into the net to equalize the score at 1-1. In the 65th minute, Saucheck scored a goal in the air to put West Ham United back on top, making the score 2-1, and in the 76th minute, Coudoux's pass from the bottom of the line was assisted by a shot from George Urschel, which made the score 3-1.
Throughout the match, West Ham United played well in the defensive end, especially in the second half, they managed to turn the game around through tight defense and excellent counterattacks. Luton, on the other hand, looked out of their depth in the defensive end and were repeatedly broken down by West Ham United's attacks.
