The Maverick led at one point in the G4 game of the tournament, but was ultimately turned around by the Thunder and lost the game.
The Maverick showed excellent team offense in the first quarter, with three-pointers from Washington and Jones Jr. helping the team open the game with a 22-8 run to build a double-digit lead. The Thunder, on the other hand, had been mired in a bad start in the first half, and were completely overwhelmed by the Maverick's defense on the offensive end, and were especially poor from the three-point line, where they could not threaten with only 1 of 11 shots in the half. The Maverick, on the other hand, managed to suppress the opponent's offense under the pressure of shrinking the interior on the defensive end, and eventually took an 11-point lead into the second half with the help of long-distance shooting by Irving and Doncic.
The Mavericks remained on top of their opponents at the start of the second half, but their offense stalled in the latter part of the third quarter, scoring only two points and creating an opportunity for the Thunder to fight back. Led by Alexander, the Thunder launched a 9-2 run to bring the score to just four points. In the final quarter, the Thunder launched another 14-4 run with consecutive points from Alexander to complete a turnaround.
In the final crucial moments of the game, Javert scored two goals to help the Thunder pull away to a five-point advantage, and eventually the Maverick was unable to equalize the score and missed the opportunity. In the end, the Thunder turned the tables on the Mavericks and tied the game at 2-2.
