Dutch coach Jurgen Thanhaug is one step closer to his third league title! Ajax are four points clear of FC Schaffhausen, who also lost, after a 2-2 draw with Alkmaar on Sunday (9). With only two rounds of the league remaining, Ajax can seal the title early by beating Heerenveen at home in the early hours of Thursday (12).
Ajax's visit to 5th-placed Alkmaar saw them take the lead with a goal by Brobbey just before half-time, but they conceded 2 goals in the second half to lose 1-2, until Eichen Omar Alvaris tied the game with a goal 4 minutes before half-time. As the second-placed Yanhofen was forced to settle for a 2-2 draw by Flying Yanno in the same visit, Ajax was able to take a big step forward towards the championship.
Tannhäuser said after the match: "A draw against Alkmaar is a good result, but the most important thing is that the future of the championship is in our hands. Ajax can win one of their last two matches against Heerenveen and Vitesse and will already win the cup. Tannhäuser has won the Dutch league twice before in the 18/19 and 20/21 seasons, and will certainly hope to win the cup this time.
