.. Previously in Boston, each team had a win, and in their last game, the Celtics won in Cleveland and now lead 2-1. Mitchell was unable to play in this game due to injury.
Strus helped the Cavaliers get off to an 8-2 start early in the game with back-to-back scores from outside the arc. However, the Celtics' dual scouting duo quickly responded with a 12-0 run. Then, Tatum's performance helped the Cavaliers further extend their lead. However, LeVell's stellar play allowed the Greens to take a seven-point lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Celtics continued to expand the lead, Strouse kept the touch, outside shooting streak, the Cavaliers although a 13-3 attack wave to catch up to the difference of one point, but then Tatum consecutive assists to stabilize the lead, at the end of halftime, the Celtics are still ahead by five points.
The second half saw a drop in hitting percentage for both teams, but the Cavaliers pummeled the lane on consecutive possessions to get back in front at one point. However, the Celtics quickly went on a 7-0 run to stop the bleeding. Then, the Celtics' outside players scored consecutively to extend the lead to double digits. In the final quarter, Tatum continued to play well and helped the Celtics extend their lead. Although Garland and Wade hit three-pointers and the Cavaliers went on an 8-0 run to get close again, Tatum's consecutive points stabilized the Celtics' lead. Brown's three-pointer almost killed the game, and in the end, the Celtics ended the game with a victory to take the point with a 3-1 aggregate score.
