Liaoning showed a strong offense at the beginning of the game, hitting four consecutive three-pointers in the early part of the game to take the lead. Despite Xinjiang's constant assault on the basket, Liaoning's multi-point offense soon stretched the lead to double digits. In the second quarter, Liaoning continued its efficient offense, extending its lead to 19 points at one point. Despite Xinjiang's Jones' lone effort to catch up, Liaoning played steadily and maintained their lead, ending the half with a 13-point lead, 59-46.
In the second half, Liaoning's Fogg hit consecutive three-pointers to extend the lead to more than 20 points. However, Xinjiang mounted a resilient comeback, cutting the deficit to single digits after a 12-0 run. But in the final quarter, Liaoning's Fu Hao stepped up and scored 10 consecutive points to help his team re-establish a 20-point advantage. And Xinjiang's Qi Lin was sent off the court for a foul, making it impossible for them to turn the game around. In the end, Liaoning beat Xinjiang 121-112 to win the first game of the finals and take a temporary 1-0 lead.
