Manager Mauricio Pochettino spoke about his team's strikers
Jackson (name)
. He thinks the player has the potential to be a great striker and that will take time and patience.
Pochettino told reporters, "I will never criticize you when you describe what you see. It's true that sometimes he deserves to be criticized because he missed great chances. So what are you going to say? You need to describe the facts, don't you?"
"But for us, we judged it differently. We see his potential and we see where he can improve. Jackson has the potential to be a very good forward and it's about time and patience."
"He was criticized so much from the beginning because he was compared to Drogba. When I talk about the history of the club, it's the same situation, of course I want the result now, I want to win the title now. We were close and yes, we deserved to beat Liverpool in the League Cup final."
"But you have to remain cautious in making judgments because it's about understanding what's going on. Now that Jackson has more confidence, he's working very hard and is changing people's perceptions, I'm glad that people are now starting to look at Jackson in the same light as we did."
Speaking about Jackson's goal celebration against Nottingham Forest, Pochettino said, "I'm very happy about that, it makes us proud. Because it's easy to get upset about certain players conceding penalties or missing chances and it's easy to want to stifle players. But we have to support players when they deserve it, like Jackson now."
