Shedding his recent slump, midfielder McTominay, who started in the starting lineup, played particularly superbly, and manager Solskjaer was full of praise for his performance in the post-match press conference.
"McTominay was the man of the match and we've seen him play like he did today many times before. He's suffered a few injuries and has had surgery this season, but he played very well in this game. McTominay made a number of tackles, he was able to draw the ball forward, his kicking style was simple and direct, and he also had a number of headers from set-piece defenders, which was a top-class performance."
