According to the latest news from French media outlet L'Equipe.
Paris, capital of France
Saint-Germain have agreed to allow defender Ashraf al-Hakimi to participate with the Moroccan national team in Paris this summer for the
the Olympics
. However, the club refused to allow Zaire Emery and Barcola to play with the French national Olympic team, as both players will be with the French national team at the Euros.
Ashraf to compete in Olympics
Ashraf, 25, who has already played in two World Cups and three Africa Cups with Morocco, is eager to play in the Olympics. Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has previously gone on record as saying that participation in international tournaments requires full consideration of a player's personal wishes and the club's interests. He said, "We will analyze each player's situation and make the best decision for the club and the player. This is something that needs to be agreed upon by both parties."
After communicating with the player, the Paris Saint-Germain management has decided to release Ashraf for the Olympics, which they believe will help bring the club closer to the player. Ashraf's contract with Paris will run until 2026 and the club wants him to play for a long time.
Refusal to release Emery Jr. and Barcola
However, Paris Saint-Germain have taken a different approach when it comes to Zaire Emery and Barcola. The two were already on the French national team's Euro squad and the club did not agree with them going through such an intensive schedule in a short period of time. The club felt that the Euros were more important for their development and future and therefore rejected their participation in the Olympics.
