Upon his appointment, Pochettino missed out on the Manchester United manager's job.
Mauricio Pochettino is an experienced coach who has coached several teams in the Premier League and Europe's top leagues. He spent five years in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, leading the team to several Champions League appearances. Prior to that, he also coached Southampton and won Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France with Paris Saint-Germain.
Mauricio Pochettino took charge of Chelsea in the 2023/24 season, but left after just under a year in charge. Chelsea experienced a number of setbacks during the season, including 11 Premier League defeats, an FA Cup semi-final defeat, and a loss to Liverpool in the League Cup final. However, the Blues won their final five games in the league to finish in sixth place and qualify for the European Cup. Chelsea will advance to the UEFA Cup if Manchester United lose to Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
United endured a poor season under Ten Hahn, finishing eighth in the Premier League, the team's worst finish in Premier League history, with a goal difference of -1. In addition, they were eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage, finishing bottom of the group and failing to qualify for the UEFA Cup. United also suffered a 0-3 defeat to Newcastle in the League Cup last November.
Even though Manchester United beat Manchester City in Saturday's FA Cup final, Ten Hahn's future remains uncertain. United have yet to decide whether to part ways with Ten Hahn.
Pochettino is willing to return to coaching quickly, especially with other clubs such as Bayern also looking up to him. Pochettino left Chelsea after less than a year in charge at Stamford Bridge and has received a £3 million severance package. He is hoping to jump at the chance to coach Manchester United and bring change to this team.
