The soccer club made an official announcement confirming the mutually agreed parting of ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea FC has announced that the club and Mauricio Pochettino have mutually agreed to end their partnership. In response, sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said on behalf of the club:
"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea we would like to thank Mauricio Pochettino for his service this season. His return is always welcome at Stamford Bridge and we wish him all the best in his future managerial endeavors."
In his departure statement, Pochettino said: "I would like to thank the Chelsea ownership group and sporting directors for giving me the opportunity to be part of the history of this soccer club. The club is now fully prepared to continue in the Premier League and Europe for years to come."
Coaching staff members Jesús Pérez, Miguel D'Agostino, Toni Jiménez and Sebastiano Pochettino will also leave the club along with Mauricio.
The club will not comment further until a new manager is appointed.
Under Mauricio Pochettino's leadership, Chelsea won five straight matches at the end of the season to finish 6th in the Premier League and qualify for Europe. In terms of cup competitions, Chelsea reached the final of the League Cup and the semi-finals of the FA Cup this season.
Pochettino is 52 years old and the Argentine-born coach has been in charge of Spaniards, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain. Since taking over at Chelsea in July 2023, he has coached 51 matches with 27 wins, 10 draws and 14 losses.
