World Qualifying Round (WQR)
The latest training squad was announced, with head coach Ivankovic and his assistants circling 29 players. The list includes six players who have been selected for the national team for the first time, with an average age of 28.8 years. The average age has been reduced by almost one year compared to the March World Cup squad. There are 13 players over the age of 30 in the list, showing that Ivankovic has not overemphasized youth while keeping the team competitive.
Exxon
: Although Iverson only made his comeback in the 12th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL), he was seen by Ivankovic as the first choice for center forward in the absence of Wu Lei, so it was no surprise that he was selected.
Xie Weijun
The reason for this is because of the performance on the field, but also because of the scarcity of local high center forward on the domestic field. Changchun Yatai's Tan Long is already 36 years old, and it is difficult for him to complete the World Qualification Tournament, while 27-year-old Xie Weijun has his own advantages.
